Pretty interesting how things can change. This caliber LSU is always going to be deep and you never know who makes strides and steps up. What we see next Friday more likely than not won’t be what we see in the post season. Even though the game 3 lineup was pretty unique it still had 4 different guys from opening day.
Game 1:
Paxton Kling rf
Brayden Jobert lf
Dylan Crews cf
Tommy White 3b
Tre' Morgan 1b
Jared Jones dh
Brady Neal c
Jordan Thompson ss
Ben Nippolt 2b
WS Game 3:
Cade Beloso dh
Dylan Crews cf
Tommy White 3b
Tre' Morgan 1b
Gavin Dugas 2b
Brayden Jobert rf
Jordan Thompson ss
Josh Pearson lf
Alex Milazzo c

Beloso at lead off is awesome

Not to mention Hayden Travinski who was the sneakily one of the hottest hitters on planet earth from late April onwards…and still couldn’t find consistent starting work amongst that unit
Man I love that 2023 team so much

The lineup isn't all that different.
Kling got hurt, which opened the door for Pearson. Pearson was ice cold in the spring/fall, but hit in games. Kling didn't get the same grove back post injury, so Jobert and Pearson held him off.
Neal and Milazzo split reps early. Neals injury opened the door more for Milazzo and then Travinski kicked the door in.
Nipolt and Dugas is a switch, but Dugas was out with injury some of the off-season. I could be wrong, but didn't Dugas start the second game?
Jones played himself out of the line up, but was given every opportunity. Beloso just put them in a spot to where he was clearly going to be more consistent.
So it's really isn't that many major, unexpected changes.

Its definitely different. As expected, the upperclassmen took over later in the season. I think what it shows is Jay is gonna give talented freshmen at bats early on with a chance to prove themselves, and to build experience for later that season or for next.
Kling started striking out 50% of the time in sec play
Neal caught almost every game until he got hurt

One other lineup change:
The switching of Dugas and Thompson as regular play late in the year.

That was brilliant coaching

Jay didn’t believe in Dugas
Of course, the Dugas with bad eyes, from the team scrimmages probably wasn’t very good

The talent will be hard to replace, but what people aren’t talking about is the magic and camaraderie. It’ll be a long time before LSU has a team like that.

The end of Game 2 told the story of Game 3.
Man I wish Jobert would be on this team. Nobody could carry a team like that guy when he was on.
