LOL
I should have a well thought out stance on this hire for Auburn, but I can't keep myself from laughing at it.

Update on Chizik....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jay Jacobs arrived back in Auburn just a few minutes ago and said he could neither confirm nor deny the reports that Chizik was Auburn's next coach. Chizik was not on the plane with him that arrived from Memphis. There was group of people at the airport that were booing when they got off the plane from what I understand. Mark will have a little more when he gets back.

Chizik took over at Iowa State for Dan McCarney following the 2006 season and was regarded among the nation's best young coaches when he took the job. But he's gone just 5-19 in two seasons at Iowa State -- including a 2-10 mark in 2008.

Under Chizik in 2004, the Tigers allowed a national-low 11.3 points per game en route to an unbeaten season.

Chizik then left for Texas. He spent two seasons as Mack Brown's assistant head coach and defensive coordinator, helping the Longhorns to the 2005 national championship.

Say what you want, the above is impressive. It's a stretch to expect him to be too successful at Iowa State...

Im not saying he might not turn into a great coach in the SEC. But, what has happened to Auburn when you have to take a risk like this. Why can Tubby if this is the best you can do?

Sometimes change is good, even if it doesn't pay off immediately. And, really, who would have been a good hire out of the available candidates?

well if they were going to fire him, they should have done it after last year and hired a number or quality guys

this year they could have gone after much more successful coordinator-type candidates (b/c let's face it, chizik is living off coordinator hype. he's been horrible as a head coach)

hell dwayne walker would have been a great candidate for them

why has AU fallen off? talent. walker is a hell of a recruiter

Well, Gill is the sexy hire of the moment, but not because of his 15–22 record at BUFFALO.

Chznik will be a tough sell, sure. Just don't think he will be the dud that you are all making him out to be. Iowa State is a tough place to win.
