If we take 2024, can’t the Lakers then simply trade 2025 after draft?

If we defer to 2025, then they could just trade the '24 pick after they make it, and i'm sure they can have an agreement in principle before the draft and whoever they are dealing with can basically make the pick.

So regardless of what we do, they can trade 3 firsts this offseason.
We could always work with them right now and do something like we'll do what you want us to this year, whether that's take the 24 pick now or the 25 pick now, whichever one they want us to announce now, and in exchange we want a pick swap with their '26 1st.

If it makes it easier for them to make a trade by us taking the 24 pick now, and we can get a future pick swap with them when Lebron is retired, then i'm all for that.

Hell if the season goes as is, i'd offer them that we'll give you the 2024 pick back, and just make it a pick swap for 2024, if they give us '26 and '28 pick swaps and 2 2nds.

Then they could theoritcally trade the '24 pick after it's made, the '25 pick, and the '29 and '31 pick.

Yes, no matter what Lakers will have 3 picks available to trade the day of the draft.

Either 24/25, 29 and 31

They are probably hoping we keep the 24 pick so it gives them extra time to find a trade using 25. Personally i say defer to 25 but wait until the last possible moment to say you’re deferring to give them as little time as possible to trade 24 pick before being on the clock at the draft.
