Kinda crazy to think Aikman only played 12 seasons.

Different era. He played during a time when the mantra was knock the QB out.

Let’s also remember that Steve Buerlein, Bernie Kosar, and even Jason Garrett performed well and won a lot in Aikman’s absence - which was pretty frequent.

When Emmitt and Irvin were out, though, the team fell apart.

Yep, and Texas stadiums playing surface was basically concrete with what was comparable to cheap office carpet laid on top of it.

Brett Favre played 20 years in the exact same era.
