How do you stop the triple option?

Load the box, fill gaps, stay in your zone, and great tackling?
Help me out, LSU has way more team talent.
Are we really going to let GT give us our 6 th loss and finish the season with 3 straight losses?
Come on now, it's time to man up! I am sick of losing to inferior teams

Discipline, gap responsibility up the middle, D-Ends kill the QB, OLBs take the pitch man. Much easier said than done.

+1
I've been listening to these idiots calling in on 1210 all week talking about how easy it is to stop a Triple Option. I bet more than half of them (including some of the hosts) have never had to defend it. LSU has the talent to do it, but lacks the discipline and attention to detail. If we don't demolish the pitchman on every play, it will be a long day.

Good discipline, tackling, and a fast defense in general.

Tell Curtis Taylor to wrap up.

One of the keys is to stay on your feet if you're a defensive lineman. If your d line starts getting cut you're going to get gashed all day.
Other than that I think it starts with stopping the fullback. If they can't make you respect the fullback option then it's not really a triple option.

hit the pitchman and force a pitch before they are ready, every play......and stay in your gaps!! But, that shite sounds easy from a keyboard. Unless you are supremely disciplined and coached up, it's tough to totally stop a well run triple option. If you are, then you make that offense look laughable, but it takes a lot of discipline.

As always, it's a total team effort. However one of the keys is to have safety's that tackle well and defend the boundary like their lives depend on it. Since the middle of our d-line is fairly strong, off-tackle (ends and 'backers)and the boundaries (safetys and corners)should get lots of action.

Discipline and playing your asignments and having faith that the guy next to you will do his job. Tech shouldn't gain 100 against LSU running it. But I haven't seen anything that tells me these players are willing to do any of this

The VEER, Triple Option, and all that so fancy crap was around when I was in High School in the 60's. Then it was called the Belly Series. Fake or give to the Fullback, QB keep or pitch, TB running waiting for pitch. We ran it some but wanted to be more wide open so we ran the Pro Set most of the time. Whether you are in the Wing T, Pro Set, or I formation you can run most of the same plays because the blocking does not change. All of this Wild stuff is mostly old Single Wing crap. The California was called Being Wide Open. Mostly all this has been around for 40-50 years with different names and a wrinkle here or there. We snapped the ball through the QB Legs to me the FB and then I ran straight and gave it back to the QB who pitched it to the TB. How do you stop Offenses by knocking their Jock Strap up around their necks and that stops mostly all of them!!!!!

Tackle the runner 9 yards downfield and then taunt him.
Les will have our men prepared.

Yep, this is what FSU, Miami and UGA all thought in the month of November - and that was with a hurt Josh Nesbitt. 1100+ yards rushing later... well you get the pic. You may win, but I doubt it's big. I'm thinking that we walk off the field with another 350+ yard rushing day, and another 80-100 yards passing for a total of 450 yards offense and 28 points. If you can do better than that, you may just win the game.

I don't know much but I would guess:
1. DT's only responsibility is the fullback dive. They must sell out on tackling the fullback - they go for the fullback before they know he has been given the ball.
2. DE's play position football everytime, never take the inside track, they must contain the side. DE's only responsibility is the QB, hit him hard everytime.
3. LB: Much more complicated here. They must read every option. Wait to see if the FB gets, if not, run lateral to the pitch side. Stay outside, and wait for the play to develop. If the QB is open, take him without hesitation. If the pitchman gets it, make sure you are in position to make that play.
4. Not sure about how the gameplanning for the secondary goes. ??????
