How many studies studied Las Vegas?

There’s nothing special about individual locations.

A funny thing about studies is when you have a preconceived notion, it’s pretty amazing how a study aligns with it…

And saying it generates billions in economic development isn’t a preconceived notion? Also how do you know the people doing the studies had “preconceived notions”.

$1.5 billion is peanuts these days.

It’s always peanuts when it’s OPM (other people’s money)

quote:

The math isn’t the same as a local stadium for a city like Milwaukee, where the bulk of fans don’t spend the night

And you know this how exactly? Also there aren’t zero fans from out of town that go to Brewers games but none of that justifies paying for it with public money.

And you know fans are far more likely to make a trip to Vegas than Oakland or other boring destinations

People go to Vegas anyway. How many people at Knights games went to the game because they were in Vegas already or we’re planning a Vegas trip and just scheduled to go to a game, if the arena wasn’t there they still would have gone.

I think adding baseball to the strip will be great for the folks who are already vacationing there. Now they'll have 40 or so hockey games plus 81 baseball games plus 8 football games to serve as additional entertainment throughout the year. Folks are always looking for other things to on the strip when they aren't in casinos so it's simply another activity to add on to the itinerary.

But yeah I agree, I don't see a ton of people flying in because of baseball.

I'll probably go out tthere every other year when the Braves are playing there but that's just one data point.
