Matthew Vaughn is hit or miss and this was a miss. Had its moments, but was kind of a mess and the last act was like someone panicked and threw everything they could into the story. Wait for streaming.

Looks like we both created Argylle threads at the same time. It was a miss for me. Hated the reveal in the 2nd act and the constant twists from there on out.

Twist didn't bother me, but that's also where things started to unravel.

I agree. I thought Rockwell and Cavill were great though.

Bryce Dallas Howard was good as Elly Conway, but did not work as Rachael Kylle. Also thought she and Rockwell had no chemistry at all.

The best part about the twist is they spoiled it with the initial press release from 2021

Just saw this. It was mostly a miss but I had fun. Bit of stupid but I think not being an R movie and him going over the top with a PG 13 movie made it suck more than it had to. Also, every single
“twist” was plainly visible a mile away in poring rain.
But… I still had some laughs at the over the topness of it.
One of the more heartbreaking things was that when BDH brought out the heavies, they cut her hair and made it a hideous blonde. Awful.
Also, since there’s spoilers in here already……
WTF did we have SLJ and Sofia Botella in a movie with a direct Kingsmen reference? Was that supposed to be really meta or lazy Vaughn casting his favorites.

We couldn't believe how bad this movie was. Big Vaughn fans, very let down. The Cavil and Cena characters could've carried their own film.

We streamed it for free over the weekend. I agree it was a hot mess but I still had fun and laughed. It knew it was ridiculous.

Went on a cruise over the last week, watched this film at the pool for free. Even free, I feel like I should demand some sort of refund from someone.
The first act is a decent action flick with a bit of tweaking with some light comedy. It takes a hit at the point where the big change in the main character is revealed. The transition felt rushed and the "new" character just never really clicked for me. At this point, the movie felt a bit like the writers were just phoning it in with standard fare.
Once they broke out of the armory with the colored smoke bombs, then went into a dance routine (followed closely by the oil-skating), the wheels came off and this beast hit Marvels level of bad (specifically, the planet where everyone communicates through song and dance). If this were the GOT/horse meme, it would be a decent drawing, followed by a bad drawing, followed by random ink/scribble marks and some drool.
I'm a Cavill fan but came into this one not expecting too much, but even then I was disappointed (in the movie itself, not Cavill). As Fewer said, I feel like Cena and Cavill could have done a more straight-forward movie themselves with just those characters and it would have been more enjoyable.

SLJ was a mid-film reveal, but he wasn't the twist.
Also, this movie was offensively awful, and it made me angry for being such a waste of everyone's time and talent. And I usually really like Matthew Vaughn.
