I watched a long-form review on YT earlier. They look really intriguing from a tech geek POV but I and just not sure how or if I would use them, especially for $3500.

What’s the gist of them? I assume it presents an augmented reality kind of thing where you can interact with things on the goggle screen? Sort of like Minority Report?

Same here. I’m tempted, but not sure I’ll pull the trigger just yet.

Compared to other VR headsets, like the meta quest 3, it's not even close to worth the money. It depends what you want to do and if you have the money but this seems more like a case of apple trying to maintain their share of the market in a future tech that seems to be evolving. This product puts them on the map even if it's just hype and largely unaffordable for 99% of apple consumers.
It could also go against them as it pushes the VR space further into the mainstream possibly pushing non-VR users into the hands of meta as they seek out a more reasonable entry price as new VR users.
The other side is you keep apple users in your ecosystem as they can see you're capable of delivering a VR product preventing them from going towards a meta.
If you want a good VR experience, go with the quest though for now.
