I guess you never played a sport, but lots of tennis players wear head bands or hats to keep hair out of eyes, etc, protect from sun. Some find that the bill of the hat affect their site line on the ball for serves and over heads, so put it backwards.

Well, we know you don’t play tennis.
Keeps hair out of face/eyes.
Helps keep sweat from running into eyes during a point.
Forward blocks the sun when needed.
Backwards gives better site when no sun in eyes.
