There's lots of talent out there, there's just very few good songs and even less good albums. I listened to a bit of EJ's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road the other day. Nothing today even comes close and it wasn't necessarily the best of it's time.
It’s so true. With most new music I feel like I am forcing myself to like it.
I sort of blame the way the music scene has evolved from club acts to stadiums and festivals. There is just not as much energy behind it. Young people want their picture to post they don’t want their face melted.
Music production, just like movie production, has been neutered by tech. Things being able to be “fixed” after recording robs creativity
That and for whatever reason we have moved away from showcasing rare talent. People are still touring from 50 years ago because they are incredible pianists, guitarists and singers.
At the end of the day, you hate the feeling that I have heard every song I’m ever going to like. I want to branch out and do hear some thing I like, but finding a band that I can listen to an entire album hasn’t happened in over 10 years.

I'm in my mid 40s and my music taste is constantly growing. I still enjoy most of what I listened to as a teenager but I'm finding new stuff all the time I would have never listened to back then. Maybe I'm just different but finding new music is still exciting for me.
