Perhaps it’s because we see headlines like this constantly then quietly a few months down the road there will be a “revised” much smaller number released that shows the original story was full of shite.
Maybe you’re more trusting than others, but when I’m lied to repeatedly, I tend to not believe anything told to me by those who’ve been doing to the lying.

When the whole word is a giant conspiracy, reality gets suspended including good news.
In fairness “doom wishing” is common on both sides of the political spectrum. That is, hoping for economic crashes so the guy with your tribe’s letter next to his name can win.

I know a few people who have been layed off from different companies recently. Haven't heard of anyone getting new jobs
