But Fox News told ole baw all things California are terrible
I will say that CA is at least putting forth some effort to make good use of their drought and wildfire reprieve. They're carrying out good prescribed burns, pile burns, etc. It is a big hole to climb out of, but they're at least using their wildland crews in the slow time to try to get some control.
A lot of this flood is due to past fires. Burn scars are problematic in normal rains. In this deluge they are big threats. It is a cycle, though. Land grows up, the rain and snow stops, everything dries out, fires burn through, rains return to flush it all out, and new growth takes off. Managing that cycle is key.

In the 7 years I worked in California, never once did I hear or see a single person react with glee to a hurricane or other disaster in the South.
Ehhh, it is all online talk. The shite gets flung from all directions on social media. I've seen plenty of it.
In person, out in the real world, people aren't generally like that. The anonymity of the internet brings out the worst in people, and weather/natural disasters aren't exempt from it. There are shitty people out there. There are even more of them on the interwebs.
It is just tiring and doesn't accomplish anything other than making idiots look like giant assholes.

Welcome to man made climate change. The new normal
Side note: Scientists have been perusing the idea of creating a new “Category 6” classification for hurricanes
quote:
“Significantly increasing” temperatures, and much stronger storms have convinced Wehner and Kossin, a retired federal scientist and science advisor that a new category may be needed.
While the two are not asking the National Hurricane Center to add this new category just yet, they proposed a hypothetical new category for storms with winds over 192 MPH.
They found the chances of that potential intensity occurring in such storms have more than doubled since 1979

Hmmmm....

We also have greatly increased the number and scope of quality instruments in service since 1979. Add in the rapid advancement in satellite technology and the picture gets a little clearer.
The majority of these hype pieces fail to mention that fact. Comparing the modern era of storm tracking/forecasting to the historic record is nearly useless. I've said for years that modern records should have a required asterisk when making comparisons like that.
The same issue is magnified when it comes to tornadoes. People try to compare modern stats to the pre-Nexrad days. Dual-pol increased the numbers even more, though not the jump that Nexrad brought.
Add in the population boom and shift into more rural areas of the country, and the numbers get more skewed.

The average Californians spends 0% of their time thinking about the South, while their all up in the heads of the retards that make up this region.
Boom! And THAT is why the southerners with inferiority complexes hate them.

This is a Louisiana message board not a California message board.
You’re right. We need another NOLA bashing thread.
