Everyone's lives shouldn't revolve around work. I started a new job in June of last year, but we'd had a trip to Europe scheduled for Thanksgiving for 6 months prior to even leaving the previous employer. I was sure to let my new company know during the interview process that I would be gone 2 weeks towards the end of the year. Communication goes a long way

There should be no work / life balance.
Life should outbalance and outweigh work all day, every day.

If your life doesnt revolve around work, why did you even tell them?
What would you have done if they said no?
