re: Pope Francis Clarifies, Again, Why Some Don’t Like His Blessing Of Homosexual Couples

Pope is being nuanced in that he's giving permission to Bless the Soul of the homosexual without Blessing the Sins on that Soul.
Then he's wrong. You can't bless the soul of a person living in Mortal Sin. Sure you can go through the motion of blessing but it has no valid effect. It's just a priest waving his hands. Mortal Sin cuts off the Life of Grace in the soul, and Grace is God's life in us. Total separation from God. The soul is spiritually dead. Maybe you need to find your Catechism of the Catholic Church and study up on the devestating effects of Mortal Sin.
I'll say it again. Bergoglio has approved blessing a person living in Mortal Sin, and that is impossible, since Mortal Sin results in a total separation from God. I know Bergoglio has trouble dealing with and accepting the concept of Mortal Sin, but that doesn't change anything. Okay, I'll say it, IMO Bergoglio, like many Catholics, have succumbed to this Protestant notion of "Justification through Faith Alone".
Yep, Jorge Mario Bergoglio is a heretic.

Nope, that would be Peter. You know the rock on which Christ would build his church.

quote:Why did people much closer to the original text than us choose to use 2 different words? You say that one is masculine and that's all. If you will expand your research, there is much more of a difference than you suggest. Also, men like Apollos and Paul were fluent in Greek.
Petra and petros had the same meaning in Greek at the time this particular passage was written. Second, petros is the masculine form. Jesus (or the person writing Jesus's words in Greek) would not have named or designated Simon in the female form of petra.
As for doing damage, how is your position not at least equally divisive?
(1 Pet. 2:4–8), all believers have become “living stones” by virtue of their association with Christ, with the apostles as the foundation (Eph. 2:20, 21; Rev. 21:14).
In Matthew chapter 16, a few verses later, when Peter says that Jesus must not go to the cross, he is not called a foundation rock, but a stumbling block by Jesus (Matt 16:23).

what does the Bible say on the subject?
You are assuming he cares what the Word of God says (if he really believes it all)

Wow.

This is the best Pope we’ve had in a long time, and it’s nice to see that he’s recognizing some of the mistakes of the church’s past. Messages like these will only help those gay kids who have been told by the church that they’re going to hell just because of the way they were born. If you disagree with him, then find a new church. I left the Catholic Church a long time ago, but it’s nice to see the progress regardless. I understand most of y’all will disagree because you’ve been brainwashed by the church, but feel free to entertain the idea that there is no hell. The world isn’t as scary as all those priests and preachers make it out to be. My advice to you all is to travel and visit different states, countries, etc. Life without religion is freeing.

This is the state of Catholicism.

He sounds like a full-blown heretic or worse yet, the false prophet.
“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness.”

You’re living for yourself and pleasure.
And you certainly have free will to do that if you choose.

It is a sin, plain and simple. Doesn't matter if it is due to mental illness, chemical imbalance, or just flat out personal choice.
To expand, the sin is not having the affliction, assuming it is an illness, chemical imbalance etc. The sin is thr indulgence in it just like with any other affliction. Drinking for an alcoholic, drug use etc.
Get over it heathen.

Or maybe it was Peter's RESPONSE to Jesus's question that is the "rock" upon which the Church would exist? Such being that Jesus was/is "THE Son of God". Popes are not infallible, and neither was Peter, or any person. Obviously. The Idea of Jesus being THE Son of God is either absolute Truth, or absolute vanity from a narcissistic and delusional madman. No grey there
Exactly! Amen.

Heretic at the least, that was clear when he brought the pagan idol into the holy cathedral and then had it fished out of the river it was thrown into.

There's no maybe. That's exactly what He meant.

IMHO, this move is too nuanced and will cause confusion, and, I don't agree with this move on that basis.
That’s his entire M.O. to seed confusion and nuance among the flock of Christ & his bride the Church.
