Did two MEUs in a helo company. Listening to the Flight Nurses on this thread tells me they have never seen a helo crash. It’s all fun and games riding on the skids of a Huey or littlebird or fast roping out the hell hole of a 53 until you have to break out the body bags and tag your buddies after a helo crash. I don’t think I will ever be able to get on a fancy civilian helo. If I can’t see the transmission fluids/oils dripping on the deck I would make the seat a taco by the end of the flight.

That's exactly right. I have been in (2) CH 46s that had to make emergency stops. The crew chief told us "it's not the leaking hydraulic fluid you have to worry about." He said "when you don't see the leaking hydraulic fluid - that is when you need to worry."

you'd be wrong to assume that.

Like I said, I had great memories and some vv horrific memories as a flight nurse, the crash in 2010 was obviously the worst.

Was flying in a Chinook in Iraq and was at the end and noticed fluid leaking on the walls. Got a crew members attention and he said this is a Chinook if it ain't leaking then I am worried.
