Yeah, guys used to get fired for wrecking too many cars
Posted on 4/21/24 at 9:51 pm to FightinTigersDammit
Plus a lot of them ended up having to personally get involved in repairing the damage back in the day …

Saw me some videos on Worldstar of some very fun activities at the race parties this weekend
Think I might make me a trip to the Taladega next season

I know Petty once told Earnhardt " I don't care what you do to my drivers, but don't be tearing up my race cars"

I’ve told this story here before, it was 1976, spring race at Talladega, me and some friends were in the infield kicked back having a good time, burgers were on the grill. All of a sudden this dude wandered up, bare chested, barefoot, wearing only jeans, filthy dirty, and struck up a conversation with us. Said last thing he remembered was he was tripping on LSD, and he woke up in the Talladega infield without a clue how he got there.
The Talladega infield has ALWAYS been a special place.

One of… not the best. And consider his background.
He’s adapting. And it’s cool to see.

Sucks for Brad.
Still waiting for that first checkered flag for the 6.

Agree. And to be honest Nascar should have thrown yellow. I understand racing back to checkers on last lap. But only if wreck is behind the pack. It was the damn leader wrecking in front of the field. Had they done so Brad wins. He was robbed because Nascar is clueless with their own rules.
As for Reddick, cool for him. And for MJ. I like both of them too. But despise Bubba and the other owner Hamlin. What a conflict that is. But was glad MJ got to be on hand for a win plus it wasn’t Bubba.
I had Kes in my final 4 and sticking with it. He is so so close, and they are running better and better. Only matter of when

I’m probably the only one who wouldn’t care if I ever heard the words “Michael Jordan” ever again.

You're a Lebron fan aren't you?

Erik Jones onboard with radio. He was definitely hurting as soon as it happened.

Totally disagree with this, and I’m pulling for Brad as much as anybody these days. Throwing the yellow would not have changed a thing as far as who wrecked and who didn’t. It would have “froze the field” and then they’d be bringing in scoring loops, moment of caution, blah blah blah. They were 5 seconds from the line, just let it play out. That’s the way it’s been at Super Speedways for awhile. If they make it to turn 3-4, they tend to let them run it out because they have plenty of time to get slowed back down on the back stretch.

This is as close as we will see what happened to Dale. Racing one second and ..... the next.

Michael Jordan is great for NASCAR. You've got not only one of the biggest celebrities on the planet, but the alpha of all alphas, who is investing in the sport. People know the Jordan brand. They know the 23 and 45 are his numbers. From a branding perspective, MJ in NASCAR is best for everyone.
You can't tell me all those guys on the grid wouldn't line up for an autograph from MJ.
I told a buddy a decade ago I could see MJ and Denny owning a team.

And it's not.like he's some novice. MJ has been a NASCAR fan since he was a kid. He loves the sport.

Agree he is good for sport. But I don’t like he’s aligned with Denny and Bubba.
He should give the more famous 23 number to Reddick. And put someone else in the Bubba car And Nascar should force Denny to either sell out his shares or resign from JGR. It’s a massive conflict.
I imagine a race where Truex or Bell are tied with Bubba in the last turn headed to checkers. Hamlin will push Bubba 100 times out of 100 over his “teammates”. It’s also Gibbs fault for not forcing him to choose too.
Can you imagine if the KC Chiefs QB has a big financial interest in SF 49’ers? Thats a conflict just like this is and no one wants to talk about it in Nascar. Or Doncic having a big financial interest in Clippers.
If their partially owned team wins it’s a bigger payoff than themself or a teammate. Even though I still watch its why Nascar is a joke.

Him and Denny have been boys for a while. Even before they started 23XI.

I don't disagree but ultimately it's not worth gnashing teeth over. It is what it is.

quote:I don't disagree with this, and still argue that Reddick is one of the top wheelman in the sport. Listening to the driver's talk it is so impressive what he and Larson can do in this car while driving off the right rear. The championship comes down to a lot of luck as well as a true team aspect with the crews (a point where 23XI is still struggling), but pure talent Reddick has the makings of a Cup champion. Larson, Reddick, Bell, Byron, Chase, and Blaney in their primes with the older guys still having it, this truly is a good generation of racing as much as NASCAR has tried to f it up.
He should give the more famous 23 number to Reddick.

It’s why I can’t take Nascar too serious. Its why they never penalized Hamlin for his cheated start win because of his 23x association.
I can see the playoffs where Denny is eliminated and the last spot to advance to final 4 is Bell or Reddick. And Hamlin takes out Bell (or interferes) allowing his owned car to make it through. I imagine those hard core Bell fans would quit the sport. Its going to happen, where Hamlin impacts things in favor of his owned team. Then pundits will finally talk about it.
