My wife has never worked, other than taking care of the house and kids. Just made 30 years.
It was a decision we made together at the beginning. We both wanted our kids to have her at home, volunteering at school, bring everyone to practices, etc..
We struggled at times and weren't wealthy until all the kids left.

One income, she takes care of the kids and all of their doctors appointments, etc

Must be nice... but I couldn't do it... is her friend group unemployed also... seems most educated women wouldn't be cool with being unemployed sitting at home all day doing nothing

When our kids were little, I worked full time out of true necessity and then not at all and didn’t like that so part time was it for me. Brought kids to school and picked them up so what I did while they were at school didn’t matter. One day I mentioned working full time and they were like “wait .. why? Who will pick us up and all of that??”
So what does she do now? All of ours are grown and gone, grandkids live away and I work part time one or two days. The other I clean house and then do what I want. I feel awful and lazy for that.
But dinner is always cooked, house mostly clean and laundry always done.
Living the life I guess .. and I appreciate my husbands work immensely.
