OP: If Jar Jar isn’t eligible, why is Upham from SPR? He’s not a bad guy; he just fails when his fear gets the best of him in the heat of a battle he should have never been in. He’s not stupid nor does he put the whole unit in danger like Caparzo (Diesel) He doesn’t violently beat a prisoner (war crime) and openly challenge authority like Reiben (Burns).
The point of the movie is to show how different people respond to the horror of war. Upham’s not an antagonist, just a coward. He fails when his unit is already in danger (unlike Caparzo who disobeys an order and gets himself killed). If it’s just that his personality outside the cowardice is annoying, then he definitely doesn’t qualify based on your criteria.
I think you’re going to have to allow Jar Jar, dude.
I’ll nominate:
Ash (Holm) — Alien
Merida — Brave
Holdo (Dern) — TLJ
Duncan Heyward (Waddington) — Last of the Mohicans
Rose (Tran) — TLJ
Capt Marvel (Larson)— MCU
Ramona (Winstead) — Scott Pilgrim
Wickham (Friend) — Pride & Prejudice
Johnny Ringo (Biehn) — Tombstone
Khan (Montalban) — Star Trek 2
Beckett (Hollander) — Pirates of the Caribbean
Kreese (Kove) — Karate Kid
Chozen (Okumotu) — Karate Kid 2
Regina George (McAdams) — Mean Girls
Tracy Flick (Witherspoon) — Election
Carol Vanston (Aniston) — Office Christmas Party
Bill Lundberg (Cole) — Office Space
Marquise de Mertuiel (Close) — Dangerous Liaisons
Buzz (Rattray) — Home Alone
O-Ren Ishii (Liu) — Kill Bill Vol 1
