A slightly different take on Super Bowl QBs...

The school that has produced the most starting Super Bowl quarterbacks is, unexpectedly, Cal, with five:

Joe Kapp (Vikings)
Craig Morton (Cowboys and Broncos)
Vince Ferragamo (Rams) - Started 14 games for Cal before transferring to Nebraska
Aaron Rodgers (Packers)
Jared Goff (Rams)

When Goff went to the Super Bowl to make it five, the next highest number was three (Alabama, Notre Dame, and Purdue). Alabama has since added a fourth QB with Jalen Hurts.

If the Lions win today, Goff will join an exclusive club of QBs who have taken two different teams to the Super Bowl:

Craig Morton (Cowboys and Broncos)
Kurt Warner (Rams and Cardinals)
Peyton Manning (Colts and Broncos)
Tom Brady (Patriots and Buccaneers)

More random trivia:

A former Cal QB named Gale Gilbert (he was Cal's QB at the time of The Play in 1982) is the only player in NFL history to go to five straight Super Bowls. He was a backup to Jim Kelly on four straight Super Bowl trips with the Bills, then went to the Chargers where he was the backup to Stan Humphries and went to the Super Bowl again. His teams went 0-5 in the Super Bowl, and he only got a few garbage-time snaps in the last Super Bowl with the Chargers.

You may recognize his name as the father of Garrett Gilbert, who was thrust into the 2010 BCS championship game as a true freshman for Texas when Colt McCoy got injured.
