KJP was just asked to clarify …

“Supreme Court responded on Tuesday, outlining the access Border Patrol patrol needs—including at Shelby Park— to do their job. What we’re saying is Governor Abbott is getting in the way. You’ve heard me say this over and over again they’re making it harder and harder for Border Patrol to do their job. They need access, and they need access right now. It’s under the Constitution of the United States. Federal law is the supreme law of the land and any conflicting state is preempted that law. Right now he is getting in the way ….”

Border Patrol needs to step up and do what’s right, i.e., refuse to cut the wire.

”I will say it’s a shame. It’s shameful that politics has been played here. Political stunts are being done here as we’re trying to deal with an issue that Americans really care about, and all we are asking for is border patrol to have access to an area so that they can enforce the law that’s what they’re trying to do trying to do their job to enforce the law that’s what agents are meant to do. And that’s what they’re trying to do, and you have politics being played and you have a governor getting in the way of that. So it is shameful that we continue to see these political stunts, and we continue to see these political games. It is not safe, it does not help solve the problem. It does not help solve the issue.”

Asked how Biden and DoJ specifically are going to respond ….

”People, I’m not gonna get into the future and how things are gonna turn out. What I can speak to is what we’re trying to do right now—to deal with the challenges, to deal with a broken immigration system. That’s what I can speak to

The President has asked for 2000 border agents and law-enforcement officers to install new drug detention and technology, to stop fentanyl from coming into into the country—going into communities, more immigration judges, and asylum officers. That’s what he asked for. That’s what he wants to say.

If you think about it this way … more than three years ago, the president on his first day, put forward comprehensive immigration legislation and put it forward toward to Congress. If Congress had taken action years ago we wouldn’t hav3 the conversations we are today.

All I’ll say is I’m not gonna speculate on any actions. I’m just not. I’m just not gonna do that. It is very clear, and I would remind everyone that the circumstances under which the federal government can mobilize states and national guard are outlined in the law. So that I’ll leave that there, but I am just not going to get into speculations on any action to take at this time.

We have a Republican governor that is playing political stunts and continues to do that and puts agents in harms way and is preventing them from doing their job. We’re gonna call that out. Border patrol agents need to get to the area to do their job, so if you think about asking about our legal authority, the governor is literally getting in the way of patrol agents to do their jobs. That’s a problem and that’s something for him to answer. I gotta go to a meeting. Have a great Friday.”
