Ask your wife's boyfriend to do it for you

Any do-it-yourselfers out there?
A friend of mine says it is pretty simple.
I paid a Mexican outside autozone like $100 to do it for me

solid YT video on what to expect
not that hard, just follow the video directions and take pics so you know what you did, and need to put back together.

Search it on YouTube and you can see how to do it. Should be easy AF but you tube will let you know up front.

no matter the make or model, the first step is to disconnect the hot wire on the batter, and the last step is to reattach it.

Depends on where it's located.
It doesn't take being a mechanic to properly install a new one AT ALL. It's usually just a couple of bolts for the alternator itself. removing your belt is easy af, too. people think of stuff like this as so hard, but it isn't.
youtube is your friend.

Obviously depends on truck model but the last 3 trucks I've owned (all American brands), the process was remove belt, remove wires from alt, remove two bolts to remove the alt. Replacement exact reverse. Experienced wrench turner, maybe 30-45 mins at relaxed pace. Inexperienced, maybe an hour or so. In my case, factor in a beer or two and it was maybe 90 mins including clean up.
ADVICE: Buy the OEM replacement alt. Too many aftermarkets are crap.
Last one I did was on my 2006 silverado 2500. I wasn't in a rush, so I took it off on day one and dropped it off to an electric shop that rebuilds them. Picked it up first thing in the morning of day two ($90), and had it back rolling shortly after.
