He made cool shows. He was also a gigantic egomaniacal pretentious douche bag who checked out on his on teenage daughter because he was a weak, sad human.

Yes, this cannot be said enough. The documentary on him identified a lot of flaws. Also, how he fired longtime loyal staff bc the crazy woman wanted to run the show... never forget how awful he was to family and loyal staff...
