There are so many reasons to be excited about this new dynamic. Must see big time games galore December/January and on campus games holy cow. But, what’s really intriguing is for an LSU, gone are the days of a second loss all but terminating natty chances. Now 10-2 should play, and it’s all about rolling hot as the regular season concluded.
Think about some past teams that very well coulda won it all with this. Off the top of my head: 2001, 2005, 2006, 2011 assuming someone else knocked out bama, maybe 2013 and 2018 have to go back and look

For the people who say it diminishes the regular season, it actually does the opposite. So many more games late in the regular season will have meaning now.

I wasn’t happy because this was going to guarantee Alabama a playoff spot every year, but now that is not the case.

Had saints tickets for years and the only games I ever enjoyed were the playoff games. They were on a different level. But a playoff game in tiger stadium would easily blow that out the water.

It also opens the door for others as well.

I looking forward to this but it cuts all ways- as it should.

I think the playoffs will be awesome, but the game may be diminished in the regular season.

1.) Conference championships don’t mean nearly as much if your team looks like an at-large anyway. An 11-1 team in the conference championship game may actually consider resting starters depending on the CG time and results of other CGs played before.

2.) Teams that look like at-large picks going into game 12 may rest starters for that game if they won’t be in the CCG anyway. Thanks to the infinite wisdom of this year’s committee, making sure starters are healthy for the playoffs is of utmost importance.

That 2006 LSU squad...wow

Finished #3. Played four top 10 teams (at the time of the game)

Should've been in the SEC title game but for the most corrupt officiating in Jordan Hare.

No one wanted to play them at the end, least of all Brady Quinn and the Fighting Irish, who we completely de-pants'd.

Them and 2011 - best teams to not win a title.

Bama sure wouldn’t have a month plus to lock in and focus on lsu with all the locker room motivation of avenging the 9-6 loss.
