Alaska is probably bottom of the list. Dark and cold is no way to live plus I heard Fairbanks isn’t great for dating.

Fort Irwin also probably won’t be ranked. It’s in middle of nowhere

Fort Riley is close to KSU. So I heard Manhattan can be fun and good for going out/dating

Fort Bliss, I think El Paso is one of the larger cities on my list, hence I think it offers a lot

Korea is a 1 yr assignment guaranteed. Would be cool but could be culture shock

Germany is ideal. I’ve always wanted to go when I heard it was an option in the army. But they said it was likely an extra year. That’s a little disheartening when I was hoping to start residency soon as I’m in my 30s

If you live on the West Side it's not bad actually. Just stay away from the East Side if you end up going there. Just makes it a bit of a commute to get on Post.

Unless it's going to be a career hit for you in some fashion, it will be more than worth it. As others mentioned, the chance to travel all over Europe is worth it alone. I visited Spain, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, Poland, Croatia, Switzerland, Austria, and Czechia (Czech Republic). If they're still doing it, you get a four day weekend every month. If there's no holiday that month, USAREUR just picks a weekend to make a four day.

Not to mention you have the chance to bang German chicks.

For what it’s worth, when I was in, Germany was only an extra year if you bring family. So probably worth confirming with HRC that you would have to stay longer

enjoy it! I think the experience would be worth the extra year but it's your choice
