Only our current system actually ensures that the winner of the election actually gets 50+1…..unless this proposed closed primary bill retains the top two runoff structure (which would be three elections for each office)

A closed primary can do that if you design it that way. You make it so there is a run off between the top two candidates if no candidate gets a majority.

I don't believe a pularity is good enough, for a primary or for a general election.
Which is a big reason why I like the current formate we have.
Yes you can build in runoffs in a closed system but that means more elections and more time and more costs.
I've said this before and I'll keep saying it. Louisiana does very, very few things well... but elections are one of them. We have a good system here.
