“Public input” meaning a few influential individuals who hunt in the marsh

30% of respondents to the 2020 waterfowl hunter survey were in favor of the 2 zone format. The difference was in how people wanted it split--35% wanted it north/south, and 35% wanted it east/west at the Atchafalaya.

Based on harvest data, LDWF saw no logic in splitting it at the Atchafalaya. Now why they didn't go with the north/south line following 14/90, who knows?

Harvest data also showed that average daily bag dropped as the season progressed. There's literally nothing to support that having the season open later would result in better hunting. To the contrary--it gets worse the later we get.

People just can't seem to understand that we see alot more ducks in fields come February because the frickers know they aren't getting shot at...

They don’t separate the numbers killed in marsh/ag fields
Also Jan weather is colder/snowier than Dec on avg across the country
So by ending the season 10 days earlier than it has to you are eliminating the chances of hunters after big storm systems push birds down

Talk to people who hunt decent locations across the state and see what they were killing 2 weeks ago compared to what they are killing today

A rice field in Gueydan shouldn’t open and close earlier than a rice field in whiteville
And if the can open splits on weekdays then they can go all the way to Jan 31 even if it’s on a weekday
Also they should do like Ark and close Christmas Eve/day
