Raymond gets way too much blame for that atrocious 2020 defense. Yes, the DBs were an issue, but like with Pelini's issues, it had to do more with O's interference with the defense than anything that led to that cluster.
O insisted on Pelini running a 4-3 even though LSU had 3-4 personnel. He wanted aggressive pressure from the DL, which left the LBers out to dry, and the DBs were playing man against an offense to start the season that running zone was the best and right approach.
All this with less practice time than normal to pick things up, and then it went to hell.
They played pretty damn well all things considered in 2021 against the Heisman winning Bryce Young, and held Bama to 20 points in Bama.
They showed flashes at the end of the 2021 season, but having two different coordinators in 2020 and 2021 as well as Jones being a first time at this level as an FBS DC was an issue.

Agree, no coach should get too much criticism from 2020. 2020 was an odd year in many ways. I do not put that on Corey at all, I just don’t think the guy is a good coach. I believe there are other guys out there who can coach and recruit. What I think happened here, is that LSU kicked the tires on some guys, Karl Scott bring one, and it couldn’t work out, for whatever reason. I hope for the best
