A few years back I took my Tahoe to a local car repair place that I will not name (Sun Devil Auto). The tech comes out and said I need a new oil drain plug because mine stripped and I was hemorrhaging oil. In all honesty I did notice a few drops on my garage floor. Estimated repair cost to retap and replace the plug- $700. A quick Google search showed a new oil drain plug was about $10 at a nearby NAPA and even cheaper on Amazon, which I pointed out to the service manager in front of customers in the waiting area. I told them to frick off and put the old drain plug in and made it clear to everyone waiting that I was being scammed. Ordered a new drain plug and a thread repair kit for about $40 total from Amazon, fixed it myself (thank you YouTube) and never had an issue again. frick Sun Devil Auto.
