My girlfriend (no pics) went to South Carolina

Seriously, I am thinking about heading to Columbia for the LSU game. My question is where to stay.

Should we stay near the football stadium? Or should we stay closer to The District area? Or I think that sounds like the "party area".

TIA

Five Points is where all the action is.

The two times I’ve been we stayed at the Sheraton on Main. I would recommend staying in that area and not close to the stadium because there’s more to do. Five points is also another cool area with bars and restaurants but I’m not sure if there are many hotel/airbnb options.
Some of my favorite spots to eat/drink are Market on Main. They have live music and a pretty cool outside area. Around five points area is Home Team BBQ. You have to go to gourmet shop for breakfast, also in five points. Get your liquor from greens.

Stay between Gervais/Assembly/Main areas. Drive to the game. Plenty of hotel options because there’s nothing too close to stadium.

A group of us responded to an ad in the Reveille for a hotel in Columbia for an LSU game in the mid-80’s. The ad said it was 1/4 mile to the stadium and an easy walk but that turned out to be total BS. The hotel staff just shrugged.

Had a good time at the game - fans seemed friendlier than most SEC venues. I think the game ended in a tie?

After the game, we went to a place for wings. We ordered a hot variety but these were inedible…like something from a food challenge. We were drunk and ate most of them anyway and took some to go. I tried a wing the next morning to see if it was the same sober and it was excruciating. The restaurant definitely spiced up the wings for the LSU fans but we took it in stride.
