Ingram playoff stats last year. It’s the regular season. This board gets irrational after we just went 3-2 in a 5 game road trip against high quality teams.
Everyone will have a down game or a few down games. Let’s see if coaching will match the talent this team has as the season unfolds.

It might be over the top, but it’s not irrational. There has been concern about the fit of BI and Zion since they got here. Injuries have kept us from seeing them play together literally for years.
Now we see it and it’s certainly not all bad, but he also hasn’t removed the doubts and is due a big pay day next year. If it’s not going to work, people want to decide by the trade deadline to maximize the return and minimize the damage of committing all of that money to him. Don’t look at negative BI threads as hate, as in he sucks, but questioning if he’s the right fit at #2.
I’m personally still undecided. I think he has the tools to do what we need, but how he needs to play is not his natural inclination. He needs to be part time floor general, part time spacer, and full time defender. He’s done fine at #1, badly at #2 and it’s still a mixed bag at #3 but improving.
The coaches need to help more too. We need to see Point Zion more when BI is on the floor with him so BI can play more off ball.

Stats are great. How many playoff wins? You can visually see the difference when he’s in the game. The ball doesn’t move. We take 10 seconds to get him the ball, he dribbles around for 8 to 10 seconds, then he either puts up a fading away mid range or passes it to someone with 4 to 6 seconds. Rinse and repeat

It's as much Willie's fault as BI's sometimes.
Like the Houston game where we lost because they kept forcing it vs. Brooks.
I think what frustrates people is BI could be so much better but he plays old school.
There was a play yesterday where he pump faked and got the Dallas defender in the air. All he had to do was step into him and get the foul. So what's he do? Passes out.
Sometimes he does the right thing, but he always reverts back.
BI could be a legit stud if he did just a few things different.
1. Shoot more 3s
2. Shoot less mid ranges, especially fading away
3. Lean into contact
Even with his defensive limitations, those changes alone would be amazing.

It was Lively. I was yelling at the TV. Just jump into him.

Ingram playoff stats last year.
And even that playoff series is a good example of how inconsistent he is.
He had 3 good shooting games and 3 awful shooting games.
He had games of:
17 shots - 18 points
19 shots - 22 points
19 shots - 21 points
If your best player shoots inefficiently for 50% of games in a series, that's not exactly a great series for him. He was great in the other 3 games, so he was simply inconsistent.
Also, what do you with the idea that Zion looks so much better when he's playing without Zion? And the best this team has ever looked for an extended period of time in the last 5 years was a 1+ month stretch where BI did NOT play?
quote:He's our 2nd best player who we play as our #1 option. You mentioned "everyone" having a down game, can you show me all of the #1 options who have had a 7 game stretch where they averaged 13ppg on 11 shots?

It's been a weird, not necessarily bad stretch for Ingram. He's been playing very well despite his scoring going down because he's playing more of a facilitator role

Last 7 games he's 13.1 ppg and 5.1 assists on 42% from the field and 29% from 3.
1st 30 games(before the last 7) he actually averaged 5.5 assists per game, so seems he's facilitating less.

Blame the Willie lineups. He's out there with one shooter most of the time. He's directing the offense for sure, and his usage is the lowest it's been in years last time I checked

Meaning, it's BI's fault that's not a 2 shooter lineup because BI is not considered a shooter. That's on him.
I think in his last 10-15 games or so, he's down to around 2.5 attempts from 3 per game.
quote:It has gone down as a whole for the year but it's gone down a lot recently, which coincides with when our offense is playing some of the best ball of the year.
and his usage is the lowest it's been in years last time I checked
So again, at the same time BI's usage has gone down, the offense has looked its best. Coincidence?

No, but hes had good games during this lower usage run. He killed the Wolves two weeks ago with a 7/11 fg 19 pts 7 assists game.

His refusal to shoot the 3 and his inconsistency should be enough to either send him packing or sit him down for a reality check. I don’t care if the goes 3-5 game stretches where he plays good because he’s making his 18-20 foot contested mid ranges. It’s bad basketball and losing basketball

Agreed. I would tell BI that if he doesn't average 7 3PAs from here to the deadline then his arse is getting traded.
I know that he is a great midrange shooter but when our best player does all of his damage in the lane his middies do nothing but clog the lane.
