Thanks. Tommy at 3rd and I’m guessing Jones is at 1st?
Thompson had his ups and downs but I always pulled for him. Kid will be missed for sure

From what I’ve heard Guidry is strictly on the mound but not so much a closer. I think they’re going to try him for a few innings at a time

Michael Braswell. Transfer from South Carolina.

Kind of sounds like after fall a lot of things got figured out. Will still be plenty of competition once they start but maybe not as much as originally thought. Something like...

C - Milazzo/Travinski/Neal
1B - Jones
2B - Pearson
SS - Braswell
3B - White
LF - Bingham
CF - Kling
RF - Brown/Frey/Ruddell

As of now it seems the biggest competition will be behind the plate and in RF. They are working Neal at 2B/3B/corner OF positions too. Versatility on this team will be pretty good. Frey and Brown can both play 1B too. Catcher position will be interesting to see how it is handled. Likely a lot of Milazzo with Travinski at DH.

likely a set up guy with Loer being the closer.

Jay did say he's working as a 2-way guy, but pitching was his main focus.
so don't rule him out getting some innings somewhere in the infield.

Johnson’s going to need to figure out a way to get Neal in the lineup when he’s not catching. That’s going to end up pushing out the guys you have in RF assuming Travinski is DHing.

Well he pitched zero innings in the fall. He had his opportunity with the middle of the infield wide open. The move of Pearson to 2B suggest he didn't grab a spot. I expect Guidry to be a little ways down the pitching pecking order too. He came up huge for us last year on the mound, but I think there are a lot of dudes who will be ahead of him on this team.

Either Tanner Boyle or Timmy Lupus.
Not sure who Walter Matthau will put in.

He’s going to be one of the the closers on this team. I can promise you he is not down the order.

Name two right handed bullpen options on this team you would bring in the 9th inning over Guidry.

That is probably a reason Neal is working other positions. Assuming you are saying that because of the LH bat, that wouldn't be a reason to push Jake Brown out RF if he wins that spot because Jake Brown is LH also.

Can also have Travinski behind the plate and Neal at DH to get an extra LH bat in the lineup. Will be fun to see the different lineups early in the season and the competition shake out.

I don't think you will see as many pitchers ahead of him as you are suggesting. When you hear Jay talk about him and the competitive attitude he has that tells you what you need to know. Jay trusted him at the back end of games as a freshman and I don't think that will change this season.

I do agree about shifting Neal to DH if and when Milazzo isn’t catching.

2 left handed bats in this lineup (one being a true freshman with no collegiate at bats) isn’t a long term solution. With all this being said there are a ton of different options this team can go with depending on where Pearson and Neal are playing.
