Hello HG Board. I am a long time Honda push mower owner. Looking for a new machine for next year. I cut around 1/2 acre weekly. I fertilize and water heavily so I have very thick grass. Open to suggestions on brand, size, etc

Appreciate any feedback on brands you own or have used.

Thanks

My Honda still runs like a top. When it eventually stops and nothing else other than the engine is a problem then I am going to drop a commercial-grade engine on the deck and keep running it. There is nothing on the residential side of walk-behind mowers I would consider with Honda out of the market. Commercial-grade models are $1000+ new but if you are going to pony up $700+ for a halfway acceptable battery-powered or gas unit then might as well spend a bit more and get something that will really hold up for the long run.

Is the lot 1/2 acre or the area you cut 1/2 acre?

I have a 1/2 acre lot and cut with an EGO electric. With my AirPods noise cancelling i can’t really hear the mower. I like it. I can do the yard on one charge, but if it was actually 1/2 acre to cut it wouldn’t make it. If the grass was really thick it might not make it. It does power through thick grass though, but eats up battery.
