Great idea, exactly what I did except different caliber.
6.8 SPC would be first choice and 6.5 Grendel would be second. 300BO is a excellent subsonic, but supers are like a toned down 30-30.
SPC and 277 wolverine will cook a 110gr Barnes down the powerline with ballistics closer to 308/7mm08. My 277W are still 1k/Lbs. to 370 yards, which is plenty for a deer.

I've killed 2 does and around 8-10 hogs with subsonic 300BO ammo. I don't remember which ammo below i used for deer or hogs, probably a combo of both. I used the hog hammer ammo first and couldn't find it any more (not sure if they still make it) and then moved on to the Hornady. Didn't notice much difference in stopping power or accuracy. All were shot within a 50 yard range. I kind of treat using sub 300BO similar to using a crossbow as far as acceptable range. all head shots and most dropped immediately. a few ran 10-20 yards. Most of these shots were in the 20-30 yard range with a solid rest. I think if you stay within a certain range and within your shooting limits sub 300 can be used ethically (or on par with a crossbow). Now days, if i hunt subsonic i'm using a subsonic 45-70. Much much greater stopping power with the 400+ grain subsonic bullet.

Same muzzle energy, same recoil.
Grendel has better bullet selection, better sectional density, better ballistic coefficient, capable of using heavier bullets, more down range energy, sized “6-5” is more street cred, name is way cooler (monster from Epic of Beowulf). How can you say Grendel is second to SPC?
