Eating a "full meal" at breakfast is what fricks a lot of people up when it comes to weight gain/trouble with weight loss. When people see what I'll routinely eat for a single meal, they always ask how I stay thin. My answer is simple: "I don't eat breakfast and I don't snack during the day. So yep, I just put down 1,000 calories in a single sitting. But I'll probably still be full come dinner, so I doubt I'll eat as much as I just did. Which means I'm going to easily come in at or under 2,000 calories for the day."

If you're trying to lose weight, or just keep weight off, you simply can't outrun a bad diet.

That’s silly. If you took your typical lunch and dinner and moved those meals to breakfast and lunch you would be in the same boat and saying that dinner is what screws people up.
