I use t-posts and rebar every couple plants. Basically, run your tie down one side of the plant, wrapping it around each post. Then do the same on the other side of the plant. It doesn't have to be too tight. Just enough to hold the weight of the plant.

I'm gonna try the Florida Weave this year with my indeterminates. I'm tired of fooling with the cages. I'm going to use 7' T-posts. At what interval do you add more twine? Every 10" or so?

That'll be fun to observe! We had a nest in a rose bush right outside of our dining room window one time. It was a fascinating learning experience for my kids. We were able to watch them from the window without scaring them away. Occasionally I'd bring the kids outside to look at the baby birds once they hatched.

Hopefully the cold is gone and I can get my tomatolings in the ground and mulched.
Still have a few weeds to kill.

That's odd. I'm not having any trouble posting photos from Imgur. However the app has been giving me trouble lately. It won't let me edit or add photos to albums. Works fine on desktop.
ETA: Solution. Add .jpeg to the end of your image link.

Perfect netting for cucumbers

Hello All!
I have a couple questions for the more experienced gardeners here. This year may be my last year doing an in-ground garden. I have a nice spot for it but have become overwhelmed in past years dealing with weeds. I am giving it one more shot with a weed control fabric and see how it goes. I already have drip irrigation to use.
1) Can I direct sow cucumber and snap bean seeds through the fabric?
2) I have only done bush snap beans in the past but thinking it may be easier to do pole variety this year with the fabric. Any advice on how to set this up? Trellis, cage, etc? And best variety?
Just NW of Lafayette area.

How do you propagate strawberries? Do you push runners onto the soil so they establish roots, or just let gravity and nature do its thing without any intervention?

Should be fine as long as you are poking a hole in the fabric large enough for the seeds to emerge. The base of a cucumber plant can get probably a half inch thick or more. So give a little extra room for that, too.

Opinions will vary on best variety. I grow Blue Lake Stringless most of the time and they are one of my favorites. Cattle panel makes for an excellent trellis. And honestly I’m not sure if there’s anything better than that.
As far as your weed problems, even with weed control fabric you’ll still get weeds. I’ve laid down tar paper and a thin layer of cypress mulch under my beehive area and weeds still grow through. Going out and pulling weeds early in the morning on my days off is one of the most peaceful “me time” activities in my opinion. Just me, coffee, quiet, and nature. I lay down a thick layer of pine straw in my garden and it very much helps keep the weeds down. But nothing is 100%.

Both will work. Also if you wanted to transplant some elsewhere you could put one in a small pot like this:
And you could place a small rock on runner on each side to keep it weighed down and in contact with the soil. After it establishes itself you can cut the runner off and voilà, new strawberry plant!
ETA: After examining your picture, I think you may have the plants buried a tad too deep. You need to leave the crown of the plant above soil level. Burying the crown could cause rot.

Doing Diva cucumbers again this year. Best flavor i have ever had in a cucumber. Not quite as prolific of a producer but worth it in my opinion. I will have to look for the blue lake stringless beans to plant. Gonna try Chastant and Lastrapes first then order if necessary.
