In the scene where Ferris Bueller / Twist and Shout is playing you can see a homage to The Thing, as a clearly visible DVD case.
Secondly, the name of the research lab is an homage to the book Tsalal by Thomas Ligotti who influenced much of Season 1.

Do we think there's anythign to be gleaned by foster's strange aversion to the beatles? Like as soon as they enter the facility she is alerted like an animal hearing one of those high pitched dog whistles. She then sprints to find the source and goes nuts trying to turn it off. Then simply says "not a beatles fan". Just seemed really weird and over the top for such a throwaway line.
