That's not what you said earlier. You said he gets the buyout even if he leaves LSU for an NFL gig.

He does. The key is how he separates from LSU before he leaves for the NFL.

House is not going to terminate his own employment without cause, as that term is defined in the linked contract, and then leave for the NFL. You are correct that this set of facts would relieve LSU of the buyout obligation. But despite what you read about House here, he is not dumb enough to do LSU that favor. There is no universe in which “House takes an NFL job without being fired from LSU,” and never has been.

He is instead going to be given time by Kelly to find a new job in the NFL. Once House agrees to terms with his new NFL team, LSU through Kelly will terminate House without cause, as that term is defined in the linked contract.

That order of operations allows House to go to the NFL, collect an NFL paycheck, and get the remainder of his LSU DC pay from LSU.

Raymond the DB coach

You people are so dumb. Raymond should not come back as a coach in any facet. Acting like he’s so hot in demand but hasn’t had any traction from other schools

If you can explain to me why Matt House would resign rather than be fired, and voluntarily walk away from $2.88 million (ETA: $3.69 million before offsets) over the next 24 months, I’m all ears.

Feel free to go into great detail, with lots of bullet points as you walk me through the contract language I linked above, seeing as how I’m not as smart as you.

ETA: as was pointed out in another thread, it’s actually $3.69 million that House would be walking away from, before offsets

But that makes it less likely that House would walk away from that much money by resigning to go back to the NFL, not more.

House gets his money anyway

If Kelly does him a solid and allows him to find an NFL LB job, he gets whatever his new team pays him. From there, LSU owes House the difference between his LSU DC pay and the pay from his new NFL team.

Your original premise is above. You have shifted the goalposts from Kelly/House being buddies to House playing hardball and forcing LSU to fire him.

In your original scenario, House would not be owed any $ from LSU.

LSU needs much better production than that. They havent fielded a DBU worthy pass defense since 2014….10 years ago

Pass defense is just about the DB's. The DLine plays a huge factor in this.

5) Bowl game was more of the same. If CBK was at all on the fence that should have confirmed it.

If it took CBK 12 weeks of historically deplorable defense just to be "on the fence", and still needed one more game to help decide House's fate, House must have incriminating photos of CBK in a safe somewhere.

If that’s what you took from “(i)f Kelly does him a solid and allows him to find an NFL LB job,” and “(House) has to use “best efforts” to find a new job if fired. If he doesn’t go find an NFL LB job on his own, LSU has the right to deduxxt (sic) from the buyout”?

Then I wish you well in your future endeavors.
