Evil China trying to take over the world by *checks notes* selling cars that people can actually afford.
This is the type of thinking that keeps poor people staying poor. Instant gratification is king.

This is an accurate take, ChiComms are incapable of making anything that is good quality.

What does that have to do with Chinese cars breaking down after a year?

China has problems, among them a culture of corruption which results in products that don’t work well, but this is why, besides the damage it inflicted on us, why outsourcing was such a bad idea. They will replace us in large sectors of the export market.

They are like the Japanese. Initially, put it on assembly and copy what someone else made. Then they get creative and find a “new way” to get around the west technology. At that point the reliability factor creeps up and west has choice…..get better or die. A cycle that forced US auto engineers to become better.
China is opening a new power plant at the rate of one per week. Those power plants built at same construction rate as the west. Years in the process. China uses west technology and products because they have no manufacturing capability in that sector. ABB and others have years of experience with generators, transformers and switches.

Some of the reviews Ive seen of Chinese EVs are pretty damn good.
Japan had a reputation for producing shite cars until the 80s, when US import restrictions forced them to add value. They did and blew away American mfg.
Our domestic companies are no better than foreign. They wouldnt make it without continuous bailouts.

American “do or die” spirit speech
As I get older, this clip means more to me than it did when I saw it in the 80’s.

Japan builds most of their vehicles in or near market rather than in Japan. I suspect the same is true for Germany. No Chinese company will be overtaking VW, Toyota, and Honda in foreign sales anytime soon.

Yeah the title is somewhat misleading (coming from RT, not shocked).
China only moved 4.4M units.
In 2022, Toyota (which is a single company and not an entire country) sold over 10.5M vehicles worldwide.

Would that not have a lot to do with the Japanese car companies have moved many of their plants to the US which decreases their exports? TBH, I didn't know China even exported cars. They probably lock up more than Windows 10.
