New YouTube Channel - The Cold War: Year By Year

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away--a buddy and I worked together in TV production at KSLA in Shreveport.
He had been a CAV Trooper with 11 Armored Cavalry Regiment near Fulda, West Germany in the late 1970s. I had been an Army Field Artilleryman controlling war games in California with "Kraznovians" in the mid 1980s.
41 years after our TV production time, we are embarking on a new multi-media adventure. A history-based YouTube channel devoted to chronicle the Cold War.
Besides the year by year nature of the channel, we will also be exploring other areas of Cold War history. Things like (in no particular order) Vietnam; Espionage and Spy Scandals; The Space Race; Korea; Other proxy wars in Asia, Africa; South/Central America and the Middle East; and a multitude of other possible subjects.
We'd be obliged if you'd take a look at the Channel Trailer/Chapter 1/Chapter2 below--and like/subscribe to the Channel if you like what you see? Thanks!

Chapter One: 1945 - The Cold War Begins
Chapter Two: 1946 - Lines Are Drawn

I'll take a look. Cold War is a fascinating time.

At one time it almost became a real conflict. I was in Germany on nuke site, we went hot (got missiles ready to fire) We usually stayed that way for about 30 minutes then stood down. This time we stayed hot for almost 48 hours.

My favorite Cold War story was the Cuban Missile Crisis. My mom was convinced that the Russians were gonna bomb New Iberia because we were within range of missiles. She insisted on stocking a 4x6 foot closet with canned goods and water bottles that would last us for 3 days while the radiation subsided.
I told Dad, "Mom is insane."
Dad: "Just amuse her. And get me a beer from the fridge."

That very well could have happened.

Best way to keep someone calm, humor them.

Pershing or Lance? I was slated to go Lance but it was dropped after the START treaty was signed, I think. Ended up going 13B Cannon Crewman, lol.

Yeah, there was also a Naval Air Base in New Iberia. It was shut down after the Cold War. It became something even more sinister... one of those primate experimentation centers.
They did all kinds of shite to monkeys to see what would happen before they died.
