Not doubting but where did you hear this? UT grad, rabid fan, and 20-year season ticket holder who will be in both NOLA and Houston, know people that give, and I’ve never heard about this…

Money to spend on recruits, transfers, NIL? What has college football become? Mercenaries in minor leagues and not student athletes.

We lost Denbrock, so don’t expect the top offensive recruits

What are these numbers endowments? Lol

I’m not sure how revenue is irrelevant. I think it’s more relevant a measure of how lucrative a program is vs academic endowment and how much donors are willing to give up on any given year.

This situation is so sad and unsustainable.
Everyone endorsing and defending this new direction in college football will regret it in 10 years.

I agree. But is lsu just going to sit on its hands and get passed up while the big boys are adapting? Bad recipe.

LSU will get their share but not the lion’s share, for sure.
The only thing it can do to compete is to out-coach and out-develop its richer foes. And, poach a few dynamic difference-makers like we did with Burrow and Daniels.
But what bothers me is that Kelly is slow in making the staff changes needed to make those adjustments. I hope he proves us all wrong soon. As much as I like his methods, I think he’s been ambushed by NIL and is entrenched in his stance against it.
Oh, well, in 10 years it will all be just a version of 7-on-7 flag football with soft, maskless helmets again.

Why not explain exactly what you mean. I think there should be a limit on the number of transfers viz. one and only one unless one sits out or is sent "down".

That endowment number for LSU is VERY dated. We just raised $1.3 billion to go toward the endowment and are still raising money for that.

Endowment has about zero to do with if we have money for NIL or anything athletic related.
I would venture to guess any school with a large no alum fan base has a lesser endowment than say A&M where you find almost no side walk fans.
Endowment is more about size of school and what it specializes in than if it has football money.
LSU is probably one of the bigger non alum fan bases around due to how la higher education is setup and it being the only dominant school in the state.
As far as our NIL struggles it’s likely multi factor issue.
1. Our collective does a piss poor job of soliciting money
2. Their is no real incentive to donate to it
3. Scotty and Tate both have zero appetite to bend rules or ignore them. They piss their pants at the thought of negative press
4. I have a feeling BK doesn’t like NIL, he just isn’t as dumb as Dabo to rail against that and the transfer portal.
1 can’t be fixed until number 3 is fixed and has a change of attitude and that won’t happen because 4 isn’t going to really use it or want it.
So we will have Gordon and Canes as the major money push but we will never do like Bama or UGA even though we have the funds we don’t have the stomach to do it.
Baseball is humming along fine in its NIL world because they have a young innovative coach that is driven to win.

LSU does a poor job of funding raising it's average grads and fans. My wife and I both had full academic scholarships to LSU. We have never been contacted about giving.
The collective just had a tiny sad booth on game days. They need to get out there on sports talk radio and get more aggressive on game days. Thousands of $20 to $50 donations will make a difference but most people don't even know about it.

Fund raising has never been great at LSU.
I can remember seeing the collective debut and it’s pretty much crickets on it since then.

Absolutely, LSU has the financial resources to compete with any team in terms of NIL, if they really wanted to go that route. Some will say that NIL has nothing to do with the universities, but that's a complete lie. If LSU needs money, they know who the power brokers are and a phone call is all it's going to take and an NIL deal will come about.

Well, we are doing something less than our SEC competition. IF it isn't lack of $$, then what is it? I think it is the reputation of our D staff. I think HS player and Portal players don't think they can be coached up/developed/succeed at LSU based on what we have been putting on the field. Bad perception, and if we can't override that with more $, then we will strike out, and that appears to be exactly what we are doing.
