With all due respect to Jada Richard…she will be a back up at best. LSU’s hope is to not lose anyone else on the current roster and land an elite player or two in the portal. You look at the 25’ class and it doesn’t look very promising. 6 of the Top 25 are already committed. They want #1 Chavez who is pretty much a lock to Texa$. Addison Deal has ties but will be a tough pull from Cali. They’re recruiting Zakiyah Johnson who is from Kentucky & a heavy Louisville lean. Recruiting Keeley Parks but she’s from Oklahoma…so there’s that. They have their work cut out in the high school ranks. Sarah Strong is still on the board. I really think they get her….Hell they have to!
Kim made her living at Baylor recruiting Texas, Florida, Georgia area's pretty hard and got most of her high end talent there while occasionally scooping into Louisiana when the talent was there (Kalani Brown, Moon Ursin). So that will probably need to be a big area of focus for LSU especially being in the Southern regions out of HS while plucking national talent out of the portal.
LSU had a very very very small recruiting list this cycle and a couple of those were long shots to come here in the first place so they didn't have any room for error.
But yes, retention of someone like Reese and the roster is important though if they don't land strong. Mulkey has done exceptionally well in the portal but even she would tell you long term she doesn't want to be completely reliant on the portal because there is no guarantee who will be available at positions of needs and how interested some would be coming here. Its going to vary so much from year to year.
One off class isn't going to kill LSU as the core is still really good the next couple years but that does put much more pressure to deliver for the 2025 class.
Sarah Strong is still on the table. Landing her changes a lot, hopefully they figure that one out. Thats a program changing player

Kim Mulkey doesn’t guarantee starter positions or playing time. Jaloni wanted to start day one and play with her sister, can’t recruit against that. Sarah wants an easier path to playing time next year which today doesn’t seem likely but anything can happen by this time next year. So I think LSU feels like she’ll go else where. They are still recruiting high school players and will probably sign 1 or 2 more but they will hit the transfer portal hard if need be.

Yes, losing out on these recruits is not good but face it, this roster is so deep that playing time no doubt was a big concern for them. I’m not worried about Kim’s recruiting long term.
And yes, she’ll strike gold in the transfer portal again and most transfers are not just one-year band-aids. We get Strong, it’s icing on the cake. Either way, this recruiting cycle was an aberration and nothing to be concerned about.
