The real truth behind the ASPCA dog in shelter ads.

“only 2% of the ASPCA budget is given as grants to community pet shelters, using a figure from a new CEW report that cites the ASPCA’s most recent tax filings as the source of its numbers.
At the same time, according to CEW, the ASPCA in 2021 had $390 million in revenue and $575 million in assets, including $310 million in investments and $105 million in savings.
Perhaps most striking, the animal welfare group has about $11 million in offshore accounts in the Caribbean, while tax filings show ASPCA CEO Matt Berkshadker rakes in nearly $1 million a year and 259 of his employees make six figures.”
“The organization has really radicalized in recent years, taking positions that are anti-agriculture and anti-farmer,” said Hubbard. “They’re pushing wacky and extreme policies in the Farm Bill.”

Give directly to your local shelter

Seems like a hit piece, but I’m interested in where the money goes.
I
I’m not convinced that its policy positions are “wacky” or extreme.
Farmers often view animals as fungible.

I made a post very similar to this about Goodwill and people on this site treated me like a piece of shite for asking simple questions

Most cities have public and private shelters. I highly recommend going private. Those ladies take good care of those dogs. Public employees want to do as little work as possible.

Cut their funding completely .
Create a new and normal group or agency with normal fricking people running it. Actually use the money for it's intended use.
Any chance of fraud charges for these extremists?
So tired of fricked in the head people walking around pushing their bullshite.

I agree but the government screws things up much worse and politicians steal way more and waste even more. I think the posters who say support local and direct are right.

I don't give them money, but at least once a week, I pick up a 50 pound bags of dog food an carry it to our local shelter. It's not much but it helps. Sometimes I'll carry them cat food as well.

Sad how people weaponize others' concern for animals etc just to get rich.

Okay, just out of curiosity, who the heck downvotes giving pet food to the local pet shelter?

I’d like to see a commercial showing that fat cat president of ASPCA hungry, in a short leash and out in the cold!

Exactly!!! My ex was complaining about a couple who used angel tree to get presents yet in the same week can buy a 200 tattoo. Go out and find a family who needs…

Here’s one way to ruin Christmas.

Bingo. Non profits are extremely profitable. Support people, not groups, parties, races, etc.

Biden’s America folks. This type of shite wouldn’t happen under Trump.

It was a bit hyperbolic, but it’s sad to see people using homeless animals to enrich themselves.

More sad is Democrats using poor Americans to enrich themselves.

They still earn about $30 million a year just on the savings and investments. Those people are set for life.
Stop giving them your dollars.
