Under the current system, not everyone’s vote counts the same. You are penalized if you happen to live in a populous state.

Under a popular vote, everyone in America gets an equal vote. Seems fair.

Then move to a country/land that does that. That is not how this union was formed and not what states agreed to when they joined the union.

The Great Compromise of 1787 was the agreement to have House of Representatives based on population and a Senate of two members from each state. The smaller states would not join the Union or approve a Constitution where they would have no voice. The electoral college is based on this compromise.

If some dumbass wants to end this they have to have 3/4 of the states agree with it and amend the constitution and that won’t happen. If it did I would urge our legislature to vote for secession and join with like minded states.
