I don't know. This year was interesting because the passing game was so explosive that we used the RB position with Diggs to keep defenses honest. or with him and Williams to stay in and pass pro. Not that Diggs wasn't productive as a rusher, but the running game wasn't counted on that much in the overall success of the offense. Which would explain Jackson's lack of rushes. But it just seems with Emery out, and all the injuries we had at the position despite our depth (and I don't think Williams was healthy all year), if Jackson was who we thought he was, he would have gotten way more carries.

Even if he wasn't ready this year, that's not to say he won't be next year, but there has to be something that limited his carries this year. And it wasn't physical. I think the odds are he's the #1 next year, but I don't think it's guaranteed. I don't know about Durham, but I hope he's ready to go out the gate. Because we're gonna have to count on the "typical" running game more next year than this. Likely a lot more

Desoto's OL manhandled the Humble DL so Atkins was forced to take on OL at the 2nd level all game. Atkins was in the Top 8 for the best player in Texas. He and Davon Keys will be very good, but both are just north of 200 lbs so they are more athletic LBs vs thumpers. Both will benefit with time in the S&C program.
