It’s is frustrating that there are lots of soccer fans that don’t show up to local teams unless it’s MLS.
I’m looking at you Austin
Not sure how you can consider yourself a fan if you can’t support your local team.
And sadly this is why soccer won’t grow in this country like it has elsewhere.
It's not just a soccer fan thing, it's an American sports fan. They only support the top leagues. It's not like MiLB and NBA G League teams in ancillary markets are drawing big crowds. Same goes for USFL and XFL.
It's even more magnified when it comes to soccer because it's already hard enough for even MLS to sell "come watch our commie grass fairy sport" to the soccer agnostics, damn near impossible for USL to sell a minor league version of that.
I get it to an extent, because like I said to SCH, why would you rather watch an inferior product in Raleigh as opposed to the superior product in Charlotte. However, I also think it's ridiculous that a city like Birmingham can't support its USL, MiLB and USFL teams when that's all they have in terms of a pro sports scene.
