Need to land Zavion Thomas and offer Will Sheppard already. If that scares off any current WRs on the roster and they don’t want to complete then they shouldn’t be at a place like LSU anyways. There’s always gonna be another guy the cream will rise.

He doesn't offer an upgrade over the talent currently on the roster. He only offers experience.
And if all you do is chase experience in the portal, you can't create it organically.
Thomas from Miss St should be the only WR we take in the portal.

A lot of these transfers are looking for the promise to start immediately. We don’t make that promise

If the guy chose Kentucky then they either paid a lot more than anyone else or he didn't really get a good offer from any better program.

Thomas isn't noticeably better than this kid, just happens to be from LA and a board favorite and Sheppard is a spring guy. According to Shea/Billy the plan is 1 more wr, transfer or HS. Seems Tuggle is the higher priority.

I mean if you don't consider that Thomas has played his entire career in the SEC while Maclin only played the unproductive parts of his there.
Maclin had to drop several levels to produce. Thomas has been producing in the SEC for a quagmire of an offense.

It doesn’t look like we are playing the portal well this year. I don’t see a top portal class for us this year. I would think we would have some booms by now

That was never going to be a thing. There are some schools taking upwards of 20, LSU is taking 6-10 and being very deliberate about it. Last year's class rated well, then fell flat on it's face.

We currently are on track to have like 92 guys with the current roster plus the currently committed recruits. Until we know who’s leaving for the draft and who else may head to the portal, the staff doesn’t know exactly how many roster spots we have.
A WR with the experience sounds good, but it’s also a luxury unless one or more guys we already have decide to leave. We have bigger needs on defense and may need an OL or two depending on whether anymore hit the portal and if anyone out of Turner, Dellinger and Frazier heads to the Draft.
