SCOTUS should absolutely not allow itself to be politicized during an election year. Unless Roberts is an owned stooge, or a fool, he will let this play its way through normal channels.

Smith is a special counsel, right? I don't see how the Trump DOJ could do that. He'd also risk impeachment and possible removal by the Senate, if he could.
