Good find. As for Mayberry RFD mentioned above, I stopped watching in those later years. The writing was starting to get too formulaic.
Same thing happened with the last sitcom I ever watched, Greenacres. In the final year of the show the writing took a huge plunge and when the little kid showed up I signed off and I've never seen a network sitcom since that day.

It's like my buddy Rick Hawkins said when he left Centenary for Hollywood: 'Everyone in Hollywood can act. Nobody in Hollywood can write.'
He was successful as a writer for Vikki Lawrence and some other shows but I never watched his stuff. I liked the guy as a friend but I didn't find his writing that funny.

For a sketch tv show writer to be remembered, he must have written something memorable.

Hawkins wrote the “Gone With The Wind” skit for the Carol Burnett show.

It certainly isn’t demanding, high-brow art but it is funny as hell.
