TEXIT Petition Hits Signature Threshold to Appear on March Primary Ballot - Texas Nationalist Movement

quote:
The Texas Nationalist Movement (TNM) has reached the necessary signature threshold in their petition to put a proposition on the statewide primary ballot in March 2024 that will ask voters the question: “Should the State of Texas reassert its status as an independent nation?”
Under the Texas Election Code, the petition needed 97,709 signatures for the question to be placed in the Republican Primary Ballot. In an open letter to the State Republican Executive Committee (SREC), TNM President Daniel Miller states, “As of the date of this letter, we have collected the requisite number of signatures and more.”
Members of the SREC are meeting this weekend and will be presented with a sampling of the signatures. Miller states in the letter, “This weekend we brought a sample of the names, cities, and Senate Districts for over 102,000 petition signers…”
This news comes as the SREC is scheduled to decide on the list of ballot propositions that will be asked of primary voters in the March election. The question that is referred to in the petition is already among the list of propositions up for discussion by the SREC and is reinforced by the existence of two planks that already exist in the party platform calling for a vote on this issue.
However, the petition guarantees its inclusion on the ballot regardless of what the SREC decides. Miller’s letter states, “…failing action by the SREC to place the question on the list of ballot propositions, we will deliver [the signatures]… on or before the close of the filing window.”
“This issue has been discussed and debated within the Republican Party of Texas for eight years now,” says TNM President Daniel Miller. “The people want their voices heard, and we could not be more proud of those who answered the call, stepped up, and got us across the finish line on this petition. This is historic and is just the beginning for TEXIT.”
The open letter stresses that the question is not an endorsement of TEXIT by the Republican Party and strikes a conciliatory and cooperative tone in urging the SREC to add the proposition to the ballot through their normal process alongside its mandatory inclusion via the petition.
“Achieving the legal requirements for the petition guarantees that Republican voters will be asked the question in March. We are here to work with the SREC to make it happen together. Just like you, we want the voice of Republican voters heard. Whether you are for, against, or undecided TEXIT, we should all be able to agree that the platform matters, the Texas Bill of Rights matters, and the Republican voters matter.”

Advocates for Texas' secession from the United States believe they are on the verge of scoring a crucial victory.
The Texas Republican Party's executive committee is set to vote over the weekend on which ballot propositions voters will decide during the Republican primary elections in March 2024. One measure would ask Republican voters, "Should the State of Texas reassert its status as an independent nation?"
Ahead of the vote, the Texas Nationalist Movement, an organization that supports Texas' independence from the U.S., warned the GOP they have enough signatures to force a vote on the question of whether they support secession.

Can the rest of the South join you?

So it’s not a vote to actually secede, just asking if people support it?
What a waste of time. They know they cant actually do it

Correct.

It’s part of the referendum process.
One step at a time.

What part of the economy is made up of federal stuff, courts, highways, federal buildings, military, social security offices, VA hospitals and nursing homes, etc., etc? How do you unravel? Curious! Don't forget airports, FAA and TSA.

There was a time when Henry VIII couldn't divorce his wives either.

Far too much.

Seems like a frivolous waste of time and money.

quote:So Texas is prepared to take over for air traffic controllers and TSA to keep your busy airports open. Prepared to purchase all of the VA hospitals and pay for the care of veterans? Gonna just let all federal prisoners out and shut down the prisons? That's just a thimble of how the federal government is intertwined in your state. Maybe y'all already have a plan. I would hope but would seriously like to hear it and try to understand it. Seems an impossible task.
Far too much.

How do you plan on dealing with the bootlickers that will work to sabotage your efforts?

Awesome news ….. I’ve already had the discussion with missus caddy, and if this comes to pass, we WILL be taking up permanent residence in Texas. We really like the hill country well west of Austin. We plan to open a bank account in a dallas-based bank before March, just in case. Great news IMHO.
Is it likely? … Not yet, lot of hurdles to clear. But I’m with the idea of taking action in the face of tyranny

Totally relevant comparison

I’d move back if that happened.

Would be interesting to see how long Texas could last with all roads and air travel blocked off to the U.S.

Highly unlikely ….
quote:
Due to the natural resources of the land, it has more farms and ranches than any other U.S. state, and it also is responsible for producing 35 percent of the crude oil in the U.S. If Texas were independent, TestTube reckons that it would bank about $1.5 trillion per year, putting it between Australia and Spain in 13th place in terms of large economies.
Additionally, because Texas has 25 military bases and the only nuclear assembly plant in the United States in its borders, these could be used to advantage should secession become a real issue.
