It's the way it unfolded that doesn't sit right with anyone.
They could have made it PPV from the start which people can live with but you can't market the product for months as free on youtube, give them 3 episodes and then switch to a PPV product with reasoning that is suspect at best.
The logic just isn't there on why this needs to be $10 all of a sudden.
ETA nothing about it adds up. Is there a single functioning brain at this company? Who thought the videos would pass YouTubes rules?

The logic is that they are losing out on the revenue sharing on Youtube and need to make up that money to at least break even.

There are videos on Youtube of ACTUAL building being blown up in Palestine with people inside that aren't taken down. There is no consistent application of the rules which makes it difficult for content creators (not just barstool) to judge what is ok and what isn't. And pushing the limit is what makes barstool great and what kinda limited them when partnered with Penn.
I watch a good bit of youtube and they all complain about videos being demonetized or taken down for the most obscure rule violations. One guy I watch got flagged this year for a video he posted in 2016. If you get flagged so many times, they freeze your account. Youtube has a ton of rules and similar to the NCAA they enforce them when they feel like it.

I have to assume that people who think the reasoning is suspect just don't consume much Youtube content. All Youtube content creators complain about their videos getting flagged and demonetized over minor, obscure rule violations.
